Hairline Lowering Recovery
This procedure is on an outpatient basis, so once Dr. Landford releases you, a friend or relative can take you home to recover in comfort. Keep in mind that every patient’s healing time will vary, but your recovery period can take up to a few weeks. There will be some expected swelling and bruising, which should disappear after a few days.
Dr. Landford may suggest wearing a compression garment on the treated areas to help minimize swelling and provide your wound with additional protection. To achieve optimal results, it is incredibly important to follow any post-surgery instructions we give you. Patients will need to relax for the first three to five days while keeping their heads elevated; we recommend even using two or three pillows in a reclining chair for great results and to help reduce swelling.
Please use a cold compress or ice pack throughout your recovery to help alleviate any pain and reduce swelling and bruising, which will become more noticeable around your upper and lower eyelids, and cheeks in the following days, but will eventually subside.
Keep in mind that it will be normal to feel some mild itching and numbness during your recovery that can last up to a year. Your finer hairs will also begin to shed, but don’t worry! Your hair should return to normal as it grows back after about three months.
Most patients should see their final hairline results in about 12 – 18 months, with a natural look and feel.
