What is a Body Lift?

Whether you’ve undergone significant weight loss, are concerned about post-pregnancy changes, or simply wish to restore your body’s youthful vitality, our Body Lift procedures offer the personalized transformation you’ve been searching for. When you get a Body Lift, it’s almost the same as having several areas of your body treated (i.e. abdomen, lower back, hips, thighs, and buttocks). The goal of this surgery is to improve your underlying supportive tissue’s shape and tone and remove excess sagging to improve a dimpled or irregular skin surface.

How Much Does a Body Lift Cost in Washington DC & Maryland?

The cost of a Body Lift in Washington DC & Maryland will vary depending on several factors, including the techniques used and the scope of the procedure. To obtain an accurate estimate of the total cost, you’ll need to schedule a consultation with Dr. Landford. After finalizing a surgical plan tailored to your specific needs, our team will provide a comprehensive breakdown of all associated costs.

What Should I Expect During a Consultation for a Body Lift?

The first step towards a Body Lift in Washington DC or Maryland is to book a consultation at Landford Plastic Surgery. When you come in for your appointment, Dr. Wilmina Landford will go over your goals for the surgery, review your medical history, and examine your torso and surrounding areas. When having your discussion, we encourage you to speak openly and honestly about your concerns and history. Everything you talk about will be completely discreet and help Dr. Landford make the best decisions for your procedure.

Based on the information collected, Dr. Landford will create a customized surgical plan that caters to your specific needs. This plan will outline the techniques she intends to use, the anesthesia options available, and the expected outcome of the surgery. If you are content with the plan, you can coordinate a date with our Patient Coordinator, who will also give you a detailed set of pre-operative instructions to follow before your Body Lift.

How do I Prepare for a Body Lift?

At Landford Plastic Surgery, we like to help our patients do everything they can to achieve the most out of their procedures. Some of the more common tips that we suggest for a Body Lift in Washington DC & Maryland include:

  • Make sure you have reliable care to help you while you are healing
  • Prep your meals for the first few days
  • Quit smoking before your surgery

What are the Benefits of a Body Lift?

A Body Lift is particularly beneficial for individuals who have experienced significant weight loss or have excess skin due to aging or other factors. We find that our Body Lift patients experience some amazing benefits from their surgery, including:

  • Elimination of scars, imperfections, and cellulite
  • Encourages self-esteem and a positive body image
  • Lifts and tightens sagging buttocks
  • Produces a more toned and defined body contour
  • Relieves and prevents further chafing and irritation caused by hanging folds of skin around the torso
  • Reshapes a more toned and slimmer waistline
  • Sagging skin is eliminated from the tummy, thighs, and buttocks
  • Tightens and flattens the abdomen

What are the Steps of a Body Lift?

On the day of your Body Lift surgery in Washington DC or Maryland, you will first meet with Dr. Landford and discuss any final details of your procedure. Once you are ready, you will be administered general anesthesia to make your experience more comfortable. After you are properly sedated, Dr. Landford will make low abdominal incisions to remove excess skin and fat. She will tighten up your midsection, leaving you with a more contoured silhouette. To further enhance the results of the Body Lift, Dr. Landford may also use Liposuction to extract fatty tissue from stubborn problem areas and smooth out the body contour. While the time of the procedure can vary based on the patient’s needs, it typically takes between four to six hours.

Surgical Techniques for a Body Lift

Dr. Landford can do either an Upper Body Lift, a Lower Body Lift, or a Total Body Lift to help you achieve your aesthetic goals.

Upper Body Lift

An Upper Body Lift (a.k.a. bra-line lift) is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess skin of the upper back that extends to the side of the chest. It is a procedure that commonly is performed in patients who have lost a large amount of weight and have loose sagging skin.

Lower Body Lift

A Lower Body Lift is designed to remove excess skin from your abdomen, buttocks, hips, and thighs. This procedure is commonly performed on patients who have lost a large amount of weight and have loose sagging skin and can dramatically tighten the loose skin on the outer thighs and buttocks.

Where are the Incisions and Scars for a Body Lift?

A Body Lift entails an incision completely around the lower torso, similar to an Abdominoplasty. This type of incision will allow for the elevation of tissue 360 degrees around the body, resulting in a mild outer Thigh Lift, as well as optimizing the overall contour of your lower body. Dr. Landford will do her best to hide the incision within the bikini area, ensuring that it’s as inconspicuous as possible, however, this may not be feasible for every patient.

Keep in mind that any scarring that does occur should fade over time.

Body Lift Recovery

After your Body Lift is complete, you will be held in our recovery room until Dr. Landford releases you. You should have a family member or friend available to give you a ride home since you will be under the effects of anesthesia and may be in some mild discomfort.

We typically recommend that you relax and rest for approximately one week before gradually resuming light, non-strenuous activities. To support delicate tissue, and minimize swelling and discomfort, you will need to wear a compression garment for several weeks following the surgery.

As your body continues to heal, you can gradually return to normal activities after approximately six weeks. We understand that the recovery process can be a challenging and uncertain time, but we’re committed to providing you with the highest level of care and support to ensure successful results.
