When performed by a skilled plastic surgeon like Dr. Landford, a Blepharoplasty is a very safe procedure, however, there are still certain complications associated with the surgery. Many of eyelid surgery’s side effects are temporary and to be expected, which can include:
- Blurred vision
- Sensitivity to light
- Swelling and bruising of the eyelid area
Pain or discomfort
Any discomfort can be reduced by consistently using ice packs on your eyes for 10 minutes, four to five times a day. Be sure to use any prescribed ointments or eyedrops to reduce any swelling, dryness, or discomfort caused by your surgery.
In addition to the expected reactions, some serious complications from eyelid surgery can occur, although they are very rare. You should contact our office right away if you experience any of these symptoms:
- Abnormal coloring or healing of the eyelids
- Bleeding
- Differences in vision
- Infections
- Vision problems
If there’s any point in your recovery where you experience long-lasting or concerning reactions, please contact our office immediately.
