Baby BOTOX Technique
This technique involves using smaller doses of BOTOX to achieve a subtle and more natural result, particularly suitable for individuals seeking a more refreshed appearance without dramatic changes.
BOTOX for Men
Even men need a little touch-up now and then, but when most guys think of BOTOX, it’s often viewed as a “woman’s treatment” – but that’s just not true. Lovingly referred to as “BRO-TOX” by many of our male patients, Dr. Landford considers your masculine features when planning the injection spots. If you’re looking into the mirror and having trouble recognizing the person in it, maybe it’s time to set the clock back a few years with BOTOX for Men. Your younger self will thank you for it.
Masseter BOTOX
Also called “Jaw BOTOX”, this treatment can improve several conditions often caused by tightened masseter muscles, including teeth grinding, clenching, jaw pain, and headaches. It can also be used to slim down your face by weakening the muscles and softening the shape of your face and giving your jawline a more heart shape.
When injected into certain facial muscles, BOTOX can change other areas of the face. For example, when injected near your mouth, it can reduce the size of your smile, termed “Gummy smile”, thereby minimizing the amount of gums that are shown.
Barbie BOTOX
This increasingly popular treatment seeks to emulate the doll’s slender, elongated neck by administering BOTOX injections into the trapezius muscle, spanning the area over the back of the neck and shoulders. Beyond its aesthetic benefits, many patients have discovered that this procedure not only delivers a pleasing appearance but also contributes to pain relief.
Dr. Landford employs injections in a grid-like pattern to the muscles of the neck and shoulders. As these muscles become “inactive,” they gradually atrophy, diminishing in size and creating a more slender and delicate appearance. Following the treatment, in addition to alleviating any neck and shoulder discomfort, you’ll observe a reduction in muscle bulk, promoting an elongated aesthetic.
The muscle-shrinking process typically spans a little over a month but can last anywhere from three to nine months. Subsequent treatments tend to yield longer-lasting results with each application.
BOTOX for migraines
Chronic migraines have been treated with BOTOX treatments in Washington DC and Maryland for an increasing number of patients over the last several years. After performing some clinical studies, it has been discovered that BOTOX injections can be used to suppress the painful symptoms and frequency of migraine headaches for long-term sufferers of this condition. Although everyone has had headaches and migraines at some point in their lives, Chronic Migraines are defined as when a person suffering from them experiences any of the following:
- 15 or more headaches days each month
- 8 or more migraines during those headache days
- Headaches that last for four or more hours each
Dr. Landford will inject the neurotoxin in your “trigger areas” (i.e. your forehead, temples, and/or back of your head and neck). Still, the injections are only very shallow and administered with a very slim needle. In total, each Chronic Migraine treatment involves a total of 10-30 injections, which does seem like a lot, but because they are so shallow, they can be performed very quickly and without too much discomfort. The whole procedure usually takes just 15 minutes and can be performed in our office.
To achieve the best results, you will be given two initial Botox Chronic Migraine treatments 12 weeks apart. After these initial treatments, Dr. Landford will assess the efficiency of the treatment. If you’re satisfied with the results, she will recommend that you continue your treatments every 12 weeks to maintain the results.
Please keep in mind that this treatment does not have a 100% success rate, but many of the patients that we have treated have been able to see some significant changes.
BOTOX for excessive sweating
BOTOX has also been used to treat excessive sweating (Hyperhidrosis) in the underarms, hands, and feet by blocking the nerve fibers that control sweat glands. This condition is characterized by the production of sweat beyond what is necessary for regulating body temperature. This can lead to profuse sweating even when the body is at rest or in cool conditions, causing considerable discomfort and embarrassment for individuals.
During your treatment, Dr. Landford will strategically inject the BOTOX into the areas of concern, just below the skin. Within a few days following the treatment, you’ll start to notice significant improvements in your issues with sweating. We recommended avoiding strenuous physical activity and excessive heat exposure for the first 24 hours after the procedure to allow the BOTOX to settle effectively. The number of appointments needed can vary depending on individual factors and the severity of your hyperhidrosis, with some patients opting for occasional touch-up appointments to maintain their results or address recurring excessive sweating.
Lip Flip
A BOTOX Lip Flip, sometimes called a Russian Lip Technique, is when a small amount of the neurotoxin is injected into the cupid’s bow and corners of the mouth. Rather than adding volume to your lips, like with a dermal filler, this technique lifts the lip.
After Dr. Landford makes the injection, the muscles around your lip relax, which makes the upper lip “flip” upward, giving it a fuller and plumper appearance. Results can be seen within a few days after the procedure but can take 10-14 days for the full effect, and usually last about 3 months!
The Lip Flip is widely considered to be one of the more difficult cosmetic treatments, which sets Dr. Landford apart from “other” practitioners. Thanks to her skillful hands, eye for detail, and knowledge of the product and human body, our patients can achieve pouty lips with a natural shape in just a single treatment.
Jawline Clenching
Jawline clenching and teeth grinding can have a variety of problematic effects, including pain, tension, chronic headaches, migraines, earaches, facial pain, and potentially, teeth damage. This extremely common condition, called Bruxism, affects people all around the world and is caused by many things, such as stress, frustration, and anxiety.
When Dr. Landford injects BOTOX into the masseter muscles, the muscles relax and release tension in the jaw for pain relief from aches caused by chronic jaw clenching. This treatment can also help smooth out a square jawline that can occur from overuse of the masseter muscles. This will relieve tension along the jawline and keep you from grinding your teeth. Most patients will start to see the effects within one to three days following the procedure, which will last for approximately three months. Treatment can be repeated once the effects wear off for lasting pain and damage reduction.
