What is Cellulite Reduction?

Cellulite Reduction in Washington DC and Maryland aims at reducing the appearance of cellulite on the body. Cellulite is characterized by the dimpled or lumpy texture of the skin, often found on areas such as the thighs, buttocks, abdomen, and arms. It occurs when fat deposits push through the connective tissue beneath the skin, resulting in an uneven appearance. Our Cellulite Reduction treatments target these underlying causes, helping to smooth out the skin’s texture and enhance its overall appearance.

TECHNIQUES FOR Cellulite Reduction

Cellulite Reduction can be achieved through various techniques, each targeting the underlying causes of cellulite to improve its appearance. Some of the techniques commonly used for Cellulite Reduction include:

Cellulite Subcision

This technique involves the insertion of a small, specialized instrument under the skin to break up the fibrous bands that cause cellulite dimples. By releasing these bands, the skin’s surface becomes smoother and the appearance of cellulite is reduced. Our clinics in Maryland and Washington DC use Avéli, an FDA-approved procedure that can remove the dimpled cellulite look from the butt and thighs.

Avéli is a new minimally invasive, Cellulite Reduction tool that can produce incredible results in a single treatment. This cellulite technology uses mechanical subcision in a precise manner, allowing Dr. Landford to identify, confirm, and cut the individual fibrous bands (also known as septa) responsible for cellulite dimples. The Avéli device not only hooks and cuts the cellulite bands, but allows us to check that the septum has been released, thus improving the appearance of the dimple.

This is a very quick treatment, usually taking less than an hour to complete, but your timeframe will vary depending on your individual needs.

Laser-Assisted Cellulite Removal

Laser energy is used to target and break down the fat cells responsible for cellulite. The laser energy also stimulates collagen production, which helps to tighten the skin and improve its texture. This technique is minimally invasive and can be performed under local anesthesia. At Landford Plastic Surgery, we use the Cellulaze laser treatment to help reduce cellulite.

Cellulaze is a long-lasting treatment that can reduce the appearance of cellulite in just one session, using a unique laser that attacks the structure of cellulite. The handheld device will impact the brittle structure beneath your skin’s surface (the real source of the dimpled appearance) and increases your skin’s natural depth for a smoother, healthier look that lasts.

Using a very small cannula (or tube about the size of the tip of a pen), Dr. Landford will insert it under your skin through a very tiny, well-placed incision. The cannula has a unique laser fiber inside to deliver energy directly to the cellulite. The laser energy can be adjusted to meet the depth and quality of your skin, while simultaneously releasing the fibrous bands that have been pulling your skin causing the dimpling.

On average, the treatment will take between one and two hours, but it will ultimately depend on the area(s) being treated.

Combined Procedures

Surgeons may combine multiple techniques to achieve optimal results in Cellulite Reduction. For example, combining Liposuction with Laser-Assisted treatments or Cellulite Subcision can provide comprehensive improvement in cellulite appearance.

Cellulite Reduction Recovery

After Cellulite Reduction treatment, it is normal to experience some swelling, bruising, and tenderness in the treated areas. To promote optimal healing, it is important to follow Dr. Landford’s post-treatment instructions, which may include wearing compression garments, avoiding strenuous activities, and maintaining proper skincare. Attending follow-up appointments is essential for monitoring your progress and addressing any concerns.
